Different Grades

1018 – This low carbon steel features a medium manganese content, offering good case hardening properties and fair machinability. It meets ASTM A108 standards and is identified by the color green.

1045 – A medium carbon steel that provides greater strength than 1018 and responds well to heat treatment. It is commonly used for shafts, gears, and bolts, conforming to ASTM A108. Its identification color is red.

12L14 – This low carbon steel includes lead to significantly enhance machining properties. It conforms to ASTM A108 and is identified by the color white.

1144 Stress Relieved – This bar grade has been processed to achieve high mechanical properties and is specially treated to relieve stresses from cold working. It offers high strength, hardness, and wear resistance typically found in heat-treated bars, conforming to ASTM A311. Its identification color is yellow.

4140/4142 – This medium carbon, chromium-molybdenum steel is annealed and cold drawn, exhibiting high hardenability. The material is softened from a mill structure to a pearlite structure before cold drawing, enhancing ductility and machinability. It conforms to ASTM A108 and is identified by the color gold.
